Achicourt John Doe is a soldier of the Queen Victoria Rifle's who died on April 9, 1917. He was likely killed in action during the Battle of Arras, which started on that day. Between April 9 and May 16, 1917, British troops attacked German defenses near Arras, France. The battle ended in a stalemate with 158,000 casualties on the British side and 120,000 to 130,000 casualties on the German side. This soldier is now buried at the Achicourt Road Cemetery at the nearby village of Achicourt, France.
