The decedent had been renting a room at a motel in Hatch, New Mexico. On October 8, 1994, an unidentified subject knocked on his door. When the decedent opened the door, the subject pushed him back into the room, shot him in the chest, and then fled.
People who had seen him alive believed his name was Antonio Perez, and that he was born on August 22, 1971, which would have made him 23 years old at the time of his murder. Authorities never able to confirm or deny this information.
