Case
It is known she left New York and went to Myrtle Beach without permission from her family. Security camera footage from a gas station confirmed the speculation.
The FBI released a statement in 2016 that they "knew" she had been abducted and murdered. She was taken approximately one hour south of Myrtle Beach where her cell phone last pinged.
In August 2016, reports began to air that she had been held captive, raped, and shot. Her body was allegedly wrapped in plastic and disposed of in alligator-infested water.
In 2017, it was announced plans were made to search the area for Drexel's remains.
