Suspected accident

Flora Rebecca Ligon or "Dan" as she was known to friends is a Washington native who disappeared under suspicious circumstances in January 1956.

Case

In the Spring or Fall of 1956, Flora was last seen in Washington D.C by her 8-year old daughter who recalled that her mother took some money she had hidden under their floor's linoleum flooring before telling her that she was going to the store and leaving. She never returned and has never been heard from again.

Some believe that Flora may have travelled to Trenton, New Jersey or the South Carolina cities of Greenville or Clemson and that she may use the last names of Green, Greene or White. However, no evidence has ever been uncovered to back this. To this day Flora's case remains unsolved.

Theories

  • She may have overdosed on alcohol or contracted alcohol poisoning and died anonymously
  • She may have met with foul play
    • She may be a victim of Harvey Carignan, who was active in Washington around the time of her disappearance
