Apia John Does were ten unidentified United States Navy sailors who were killed during the 1889 Apia cyclone during the Samoan crisis.
Fifty-two US military personal were killed during the cyclone, one from the USS Trenton, eight from the USS Nipsic, and 43 from the USS Vandalia. Because the USS Trenton sailor who was killed had his body recovered and identified, the unidentified sailors are either from the Nipsic or the Vandalia.
Along with nine identified sailors, the USS Trenton sailor, one from the USS Nipsic and seven from the USS Vandalia, the unknown sailors were buried at the Mare Island Cemetery in Vallejo, California in June of 1891.
