Jefferson County Doe was an individual whose skeletal remains were found on an Appalachian trail in April 2020.

Their NamUs profile was removed in or before January 2023 and hasn't been re-established, indicating they were identified.

Case[]

On April 7, 2020, a group of employees from a logging company discovered a human skull atop a mountain along the Appalachian Trail. In response to the report, law enforcement officers located approximately 20 more bones in the vicinity.

The sex of the individual is undetermined; however investigators believe that the decedent is male because the decedent was wearing men's clothes.

Considering the state of the clothing and bones, the date of the coins, and the presence of discontinued Puma shoes from the 1980s, authorities believe that the remains have been in the area since the late 1970s or early 1980s.
