Jerry D. Holbert was a man who drowned in a river in Kingsport, Tennessee. He was identified in 2020.

Case

Jerry disappeared under bizarre circumstances on August 4, 2003. He intended to travel from his residence of Charleston, West Virginia, and travel to Ohio via bus. He is thought to have left his residence and walked to the bus station.

On August 11, his body was recovered in a river in Kingsport, Tennessee, 220 miles away from where he was last seen.

His body was retrieved from halfway between the riverbanks. According to investigators, there were no signs of foul play and is suspected that the body could have floated to its discovery location from anywhere upstream.

Foul play is not suspected, as Jerry suffered from dementia, and is thought to have become disoriented. However, it is still unclear how he ended up in Tennessee.
