Jerry D. Holbert was a man who drowned in a river in Kingsport, Tennessee. He was identified in 2020.

Case

Jerry was reported missing in August 2003, after he failed to arrive in Ohio, to visit a relative. It is believed he left his residence in Charleston, West Virginia, and made his way to a bus which he planned to travel on.

At the time he vanished, he was suffering from dementia, and was thought to have become disoriented.

On August 11, his body was recovered in the Holston River, in Kingsport, Tennessee. According to investigators, there were no signs of foul play and it is suspected his body floated to its discovery location from upstream.

It's unknown how he ended up in Tennessee, however he couldn't have died in West Virginia, as the Holston River does not run through in West Virginia.
