"Jesse R. Rockwell" is the possible name of a man found near Quartzsite, Arizona on January 5, 2017.
The victim was discovered alongside Mitchell Mine Road in Plomosa, Arizona based on the GPS coordinates listed in NamUs. A travel ticket along the El Paso, Texas/ Phoenix, Arizona/ and Los Angeles, California route dated June 22, 2016 was found with him. One or more of his limbs were not found during recovery.
In the summer of 2016, law enforcement performed a vehicular stop near Quartzsite in which the occupants fled the scene by running into the desert. This victim may be related to the incident, but it is not stated if some or all of the occupants escaped or were captured.
The victim's DNA was collected and it matched to a "Jesse R. Rockwell" AKA "Steven Ormiston." According to the Arizona Department of Corrections, "Rockwell" was incarcerated between August 30, 2006 and March 21, 2009 for unlawful use of means of transportation, identity theft, and a marijuana violation. During his incarceration, he was disciplined for disobeying orders, assault and fighting, drug possession, and giving/receiving a tattoo multiple times. By the time of his release, he was considered a Medium/High custody class.
Despite his DNA matching to his criminal record, none of the names on him have been verified.
