Madison County Jane Doe was a woman discovered in a bean field in Madison County, Illinois on July 20, 1990. She had been stabbed to death and then mutilated.

Case[]

The victim was discovered naked by a road maintenance crew in a soybean field. The crime scene was 40 feet north of Lebanon Road and just west of Troy and O'Fallon Roads, in Jarvis Township. She was believed to have been killed two to three days ago from multiple stab wounds to her neck and torso.

In addition to being stabbed multiple times, she is believed to have been sexually assaulted and severely mutilated as well. Her fallopian tubes, uterus, and ovaries were missing, and there was no evidence of any surgical procedures. There was no evidence of defensive wounds on her, suggesting she did not fight back.

Suspect theory[]

A Radford University biography timeline of serial killer Larry DeWayne Hall listed her as one of his alleged victims. Between the 1980s and 1993, Hall was connected to the disappearances and murders of up to 45 girls and women. Some of his alleged victims bore the hallmarks of sexual mutilation, such as this victim.

Besides the Radford University article, however, no other sources, including law enforcement, have been known to mention or confirm Hall's possible involvement. He is currently incarcerated at a North Carolina federal prison for the 1993 kidnapping and murder of Jessica Roach.

The victim's fingerprints, dental records, and DNA are available for comparison, according to the Doe Network. She is currently buried at St. Jerome Catholic Cemetery in Troy, Illinois.
