Scottsdale John Doe was an elderly man found deceased near Scottsdale, Arizona on July 15-16, 1940.

Case[]

Per a newspaper article, the victim was found in the morning of July 16, 1940 by an Native American girl who came across his desert camp. His camp was located two miles east of Scottsdale Road near the north bank of the Arizona Canal and five miles east of Scottsdale.

Coroner W.W. Davis examined the body, although he states in the death certificate that he examined him on July 15, 1940. Davis determined that there was no evidence of foul play, and that the victim died a natural death.

According to Constable A.L. Frederick, the victim was a known prospector who occasionally camped in Scottsdale between prospecting trips. He was buried at Maricopa County Cemetery AKA Cementerio Lindo on July 16, 1940.
