Westchester County Doe was a teen whose body was found in New York in 1987. The sex was initially believed to be male, yet investigators are unsure. The body is also unavailable for further identification.

Case[]

On December 17th, 1987, authorities were alerted to a possible dead body following an anonymous phone call by a man traveling in Connecticut to the Santa Fe, New Mexico, Police Department reporting the sighting of a garbage bag with two legs sticking out from it accompanied by a foul odor. New York and Connecticut Police searched the areas near the New York-Connecticut state line, finding the badly decomposed body of a teenager near the I-95 entrance ramp from Midland Avenue in Rye, New York.

The decedent had been shot multiple times with a handgun and shot with a shotgun in their head and right arm. They were initially determined to be male and only one fingerprint was taken from their body, producing negative results and being disputed later on. Local school principals and missing person's reports held no clues as to the identity of the deceased with their dentals revealing no further information. It is currently proposed that DNA would be needed to identify the sex of the body, though as of September 2021 there have only been negative results in DNA databases.
